Improvements
affordance: re-design the handle in order to control the direction of peeling movement
visibility: reduce the amount of options to hold the peeler
constraints: flexible blade to adjust to vegetable and fruit shapes
in addition mapping: marking safe direction of movement on the peeler
the ergonomic shape of the handle gives a natural grip and dents limit the options of holding the handle. the blade has only one cutting sharp side and is reversible, therefore the peeler serves right and left handed users likewise. both ways allow only one direction to move the blade, because it wouldn’t peel otherwise.
rethink the existing

in collaboration with
this design jam deals with the validation of existing design solutions based on Donald Norman's principles of design and re-design. analysing and reframing a problem allows to create a different concept, providing users a new and satisfying interaction with an item, which so far might have seemed well known and common.

weaknesses
affordance: both sides of the blade are cutting sharp
visibility: too many options to hold and use it
constraints: not suitable for all vegetable and fruit shapes
